Primary Purpose: Under the supervision of administrators responsible for the coordination and accomplishment of general plant maintenance and operation work, provide general maintenance on equipment within campus buildings. Perform all essential functions in accordance with all safety regulations and actively tries to eliminate safety hazards in the workplace. Works independently with minimal supervisor when performing all job functions.

Description of Duties and tasks

 
1.                  Perform limited electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs as directed or needed.
2.                  Perform necessary painting, staining and sealing work. Select painting materials for special needs such as water sealing and decay prevention.
3.                  Respond to work orders to assemble or move furniture, equipment and various office supplies.
4.                  Provide custodial and grounds services as needed including trash pickup and removal, applying fertilizer and weed control, watering, and insect spraying.
5.                  Perform maintenance functions on heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as directed by Plant Services III or Director of Facilities.
6.                  Stock supplies when received using a forklift, pallet jack or campus vehicle. Deliver to appropriate areas.
7.                  Install and maintain traffic signs. Maintain trash compacting units. Change lights as needed.
8.                  Monitor and perform minimal repairs of various types of equipment including sewage treatment pumps.
9.                  Respond to emergency maintenance calls after hours and on weekends.
10.              Maintain department cleaning tools and other department equipment in proper working condition.
11.              Accurately complete daily activity logs and prepare handwritten or computer generated reports for incidents occurring on campus.
