Description

The California Children’s Services (CCS) unit seeks an extra help Occupational Therapist to provide a full range of occupational therapy treatments/services to physically disabled children from birth to 21 years at special education sites. The children have neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy or birth defects. This is a unique opportunity to work in a friendly and cooperative team environment based at Medical Therapy Units in San Mateo and San Bruno.

Salary

Level I: $25.68 - 32.10/hour.

Level II: $28.77 - 35.96/hour.

Qualifications

Licenses: Eligibility for or license as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy. Failure to obtain this licensure within twelve months of employment may result in termination. Valid driver license.

Knowledge of: The principles and methods of occupational therapy and skill in their application; neuroanatomy, kinesiology, psychology and the basic pathology involved in cerebral palsy and other medically eligible conditions; family centered therapy; the growth and development of children; and the construction and use of adapted toys, equipment and orthotics.

Skill/Ability to: Explain occupational therapy treatments to children, parents, health care professionals, local school authorities and other interested persons; teach children self-care and age appropriate activities; instruct others in the use of the home program; provide consultation to educational and other staff; prepare reports and keep case records; and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
