Description

San Mateo Medical Center seeks a qualified Clinical Nurse Manager to plan, direct and evaluate the daily operations, nursing activities, flow of patients and Quality Assurance and Improvement for our 15-bed Emergency Department. In addition, the Nurse Manager will maintain cooperative working relationship with other County departments and public & private organizations, and participate in the development/implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities within a specialized nursing area. The position will report to the Director of Critical Care Services.

Examples Of Duties

This position is responsible for coordinating nursing activities, staffing development, implementation and evaluation of goals, objective, policies and procedures; provide staff support to higher level management; and select, train and supervise subordinate clinical technical and clerical staff. Responsibilities include planning, directing and evaluating nursing programs; organizations; training and coordinating staff activities; compiling, interpreting and evaluating statistics; and preparing reports and correspondence.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a CA RN license, BSN and ACLS & PALS certificates (MSN strongly preferred). Significant hospital experience in the areas of emergency services, including at least one year of responsible supervisory experience, project & budget management, and experience in the development/implementation of standards of quality of patient care are all preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and familiarity with the principles/practices of nursing & clinical systems, community healthcare, and current regulations for the Joint Commission are required.
