Job Description

The incumbent in this position will develop, design and coordinate the production of various interpretive and educational projects related to division wide and park specific resources, programs and visitor services for Utah State Parks.

Examples of Duties

  • Conceptualize, research, develop, design, write and edit various public interpretive projects for state parks, such as waysides, exhibits, interpretive publications, instructional materials and curriculum-based educational media and web programs.
  • Coordinate and prioritize all interpretive projects with agency employees to ensure public needs and agency interpretive goals are met in a timely manner.
  • Assist with various agency projects as assigned, which may include event planning, strategic planning, conducting interpretation workshops, and presenting educational programs at parks.

Typical Qualifications

  • Knowledge of interpertation principles and applications
  • Research, writing and editing skills according to various style guides, including AP museum standards and division and department polices
  • Skills using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and othe rdesktop publishing/graphics software
  • Knowledge of design and ability to conceptualize projedts from beginning to end with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of media producdtion, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral and visuaol media
  • Ability to speak clearley, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand information and ideas as presented verbally
  • Ability to communicate information adn ideas cleraly, and concisely, in writing; read adn understand information presented in writing
  • Skills and ability to coordinate the activities or tasks of people, groups and/or organizations
  • Knowledge of agency and/or organizational program(s)
