Description
Full-time positions are currently available in the Correctional Health Services Program (CHS) in juvenile and adult facilities. CHS is organized to provide physical and behavioral health services to individuals incarcerated in the San Mateo County corrections system. Staff provide the most appropriate level of care for the inmate to assure their good health while incarcerated and facilitate the development, maintenance and/or enhancement of the inmate/detainee skills to enable them to cope with daily issues both while incarcerated and after release. Staff Nurses perform varied professional nursing duties render professional nursing care to inmates/patients, supervise the work of other nursing and paraprofessional personnel, and work as a charge nurse when assigned. Must be willing to work various shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
License: California license as a Registered Nurse.
Experience and Education: Experience working in a correctional health services facility is strongly preferred. Graduation from a National League for Nursing accredited Program/BSN is preferred.
Knowledge of: Nurse Practice Act, Title 15 and CMA Standards; current nursing and related medical theory necessary to administer nursing care within assigned clinical setting; safety and infection control practices; clinical systems, supplies and equipment.
Skill/Ability to: perform nursing procedures, complying with clinical procedures and policies; communicate effectively and provide orientation/instruction to other nursing and paraprofessional personnel; recognize and respect the impact of cultural differences on health care practices.Application/Examination
