General Information
This is administrative and supervisory work in directing warehouse system operations for the Mobile Area Water Service System.
Requirements
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions of this class.) Establishes policies and procedures pertaining to the receipt, storage, handling and disbursement of a wide variety of maintenance and construction parts, materials, equipment and supplies; assists in formulating bid specifications; directs and supervises the accounting and record keeping of all incoming and outgoing inventory; operates computer equipment in maintaining an accurate inventory; oversees and participates in the maintenance and repair of related equipment and in the calibration of meters; maintains clean and safe working conditions and holds scheduled safety meetings with subordinates; implements and enforces security procedures; provides training and instruction for new employees; prepares and makes detailed reports, both orally and in writing; plans, organizes and supervises the work of subordinate employees; performs related work as required.
Description
Attainment of a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in business management, public administration or a closely related field and a minimum of three year's responsible supervisory and administrative experience, preferably in warehouse operations; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Important Information
Thorough knowledge of inventory control policies and procedures pertaining to specifications, requisitions, receipt, storage and disbursement of warehouse merchandise; thorough knowledge of inventory accounting and record keeping practices and procedures; good knowledge of computerized inventory control methods and procedures; good knowledge of the parts, tools and equipment utilized in water system operations or the ability to readily acquire such knowledge; ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of subordinates; ability to prepare reports and cost effectiveness analyses; ability to evaluate programs and procedures and to make recommendations for improvement; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and other employees.
