Description

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of a solid waste convenience center.

Work Schedule
Requires working every Saturday (6:45 am to 5:15 pm) and alternate Sundays (1:00 pm - 5:15 pm).

Week One:
One half day amd one full day either on Monday  or Tuesday and Friday (6:45 am - 6:00 pm), Saturday (6:45 am - 5:15 pm) and Sunday (1:00 pm - 5:15 pm)

Week Two:  Monday, Tuesday & Friday (7:00 am - 5:15 pm) and Saturday (6:45 am - 5:15 pm)

Work schedule is subject to change contingent on BOCC actions.

Examples of Duties

Open and close a convenience center, operate skid steer loader to assist with heavy waste, keep department records of site use, mow, use weed eater, sweep, and mop center.

Ensure the separation of materials as required by State and County laws and ordinance. Determine the acceptability of material. Oversee the operation of the public salvage shed. 
 
Provide quality customer service by greeting customers, assisting customers with disposing waste, and respond to general questions. 

Typical Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of county and department safety rules and regulations.
Knowledge of department policies and procedures.

Knowledge of recyclable materials.
 
Knowledge of the operation of refuse trucks and related equipment.
 
Skill in using various hand and power tools.
 
Skill in oral and written communication.

Supervision
Assignments are accompanied by clear, detailed, and specific instructions. Positions generally do not supervise other positions.
