Essential Job Duties

 
1.  All City of Fayetteville supervisory positions require the employee to demonstrate leadership competencies by exhibiting appropriate role modeling, and setting proper examples. In addition, all City of Fayetteville positions require the employee to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. 
 
2.  
Perform supervisory responsibilities which may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws.
 
3.   Responsible for supervising drivers, performing collection and processing duties. This position is responsible to perform job duties in an accurate manner in order to protect the health and safety of the citizens of the City of Fayetteville.

4.    Schedule work and achieve goals while keeping work flow steady for crews and assist other crews as needed.
 
5.   Ability to operate equipment to perform all jobs in the department.
 
6.   Exercise independent judgment to make on site decisions to overcome unforeseen problems that arise.
 
7.   Provide advanced training of equipment used in the daily operation of their duties.

8.   Keep all equipment maintained, schedule repairs on vehicles and equipment.
 
9.   Ensure safety procedures are followed by all drivers.
 
10.   Communicate with employees, residents, customers, and the general public in a professional manner.
 
11.   Investigate all problems in the field and determine best course of action to resolve issues.
 
12.  Supervise all materials, personnel and equipment required to complete assigned projects.
 
13.   Investigate accidents and injuries and complete necessary reports.
 
14.   Attend monthly Human Resources safety meetings as assigned.
 
15.   Perform other duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Duties

  1. Perform duties of Facility Operations Supervisor and Crew leader II as needed.
  2. Assist in special projects from supervisors.
  3. Prepare paperwork as required.
  4. Secondary duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1.      High school diploma or GED and two years of related experience and/or training.
2.      Must possess a valid Arkansas Commercial Driver’s License, class B.
3.      Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
4.      Obtain and maintain FEMA certification with NIMS for ICS-100 for Public Works  and ICS-200 Initial Action Incidents.
5.      Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and other related software programs. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
6.     Ability to read, analyze, and interpret solid waste division rules, CDL regulations and City ordinances pertaining to Solid Waste and Recycling. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, members of the business community, Police Department and Fire Department
7.    While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
8.   While performing the functions of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet/and or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions with potential extreme heat in the summer and cold in the winter. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
9.   Ability to calculate addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, basic algebra and formulas.
