Payroll Accountant

Performs a wide variety of professional accounting, auditing and budgeting activities in the analysis and preparation of accounting reports, fiscal summaries and budgets. Assists in the preparation of financial statements and operation analyses. Performs related duties as assigned.

Under supervision, performs routine professional level assignments where methods and procedures are specified and require limited independent judgment. May review the work of accounting technicians. This is an entry level. Due to the nature of some assignments, the position may be permanently allocated to this level.

Education and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Accounting or related field and two years progressively responsible professional experience in accounting, budgeting, financial analysis or auditing.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the customary conventions used when preparing or reviewing budgets, fiscal records and reports. Ability to analyze and resolve financial and cost accounting problems; audit accounts and/or operations.
