Position details
Provide professional assistance to the Human Resources Office including recruitment, compensation and benefit administration, safety and research. Assist employees in their requests for information regarding personnel related matters
How you'll use your talents every day
1. Administer/update City's employment processes for exempt and non-exempt positions, including: Writing ads, screening applications, compiling questions, conducting interviews, performing reference checks and administering the hiring of applicants. 2. Provide direct support and assistance on recurring projects and programs within the Human Resources Office (i.e., Budget, Employee Recognition Event, EEOC Reporting, PERA Reporting, Safety Fair). 3. Provide research and information on special projects and assignments within the Human Resources Office (i.e., DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing, Insurance Incentive Pay, Telecommuting, Cafeteria Style Benefits, Intranet Website). 4. Administers the City's Worker's Compensation Program. 5. Assist in the administration of the City Safety Program as the Safety Coordinator. 6. Develop effective communication with employees regarding programs and services and benefit programs. Provide information and advice on benefits as requested. Communicate with relevant outside agencies. Administers open enrollment and Benefit Fair. 7. Communicate and interpret personnel policies, procedures and practices to City employees and outside agencies. 8. Update and review position description and conduct Job Analysis for all City departments. Coordinate with Department to ensure descriptions are current and accurate. Identify and resolve potential problems or discrepancies. 9. Composes a variety of routine and complex correspondence. 10. Answers, screens and responds to questions, inquiries, or complaints received from the public, other city departments, and/or outside agencies. 11. Prepares the necessary data required to record and purge documents following the City's retention schedule. Prepares and maintains inventory for the Human Resources Office. 12. Performs other duties of a similar nature as needed.
What you'[ll bring to help you be successful
MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS • High school diploma or G.E.D. • Four year degree in Human Resources Administration or related field, or relevant public sector Human Resources experience may be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Knowledge of requirements of Federal, State and Local regulations regarding public sector employment. • Ability to communicate efffectively orally and in writing. • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the City personnel, staff of other agencies, and the general public. • Knowledge of insurance, benefit, and compensation programs.
