JOB SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates all Parts Department activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- At least 18 years of age.
- U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
- Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
- Good verifiable work history.
- Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
- No illegal drug usage within the past two years, all other usage will be evaluated on an individual basis.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) AND three (3) years of experience in the automotive parts industry overseeing parts inventory.
- Must have valid Florida driver’s license.
- Must attend and successfully complete the agency sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) Training if assignment includes driving agency vehicle. Use of agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing agency biennial driver’s physical exam.
- Must complete Forklift Operator certification within six (6) months of employment.
- Ability to order, receive, maintain, and issue parts for the repair of the agency’s fleet of vehicles. Maintain agency fleet inventory.
- Ability to document the receipt, release, and disposal of all parts.
- Ability to work with vendors regarding parts and services. Prepare bid quotes and purchase orders for necessary parts and equipment.
- Ability to communicate with technicians and members of the service desk to ascertain parts and service needs.
- Ability to identify parts and equipment to liquidate at auction.
- Ability to perform administrative functions to include data entry, file maintenance, preparing various correspondence, and assist with the budget process.
- Ability to act as Fleet Supervisor when needed.
- Ability to directly supervise Fleet parts room employees.
- Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include approving payroll; interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Must have strong working knowledge of general automotive parts procedures and inventory control from a supervisor or managerial prospective in either a fleet, dealership, or aftermarket retail parts operation.
- Must have knowledge of procurement procedures, inventory management, employee supervision, and parts management software (e.g., Faster, ADP, Reynolds and Reynolds).
- Must possess effective leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive, cooperative working relationships.
- Must be detail oriented with effective organizational skills.
- Must have basic computer skills utilizing word and spreadsheet.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
- National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in parts preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stand, and walk. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, and smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, explosives, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
