Description

Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a permanent, part-time Boat Program Technician to help the Send Your Boat to College Boat Donation/Resale Program Coordinator with tasks as directed. This is a PART-TIME position, up to 24 hours per week, hourly pay rate $15. The applicant must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends. Examples Of Duties

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

  • The Technician will clean boats, move boats, and maintain the orderly and safe appearance of the Send Your Boat to College Boat yard.
  • The Technician will perform other errands as directed by the Boat Program Coordinator.
  • The Technician will open the boat yard, show boats, maintain safe operations, check motors, and perform other duties as identified and directed by the Boat Program Coordinator.  In the absence of the Coordinator, the Technician must keep the boat yard open by himself or herself.
  • The Technician will help the Boat Program Coordinator with pick-up of all boat donations to the Send Your Boat to College Boat Donation/Resale program and pick-up of vehicles.
  • As needed, the Technician will help with preparation of all documents related to donations and sales in a timely fashion.
  • The Technician will handle incoming telephone calls, email inquiries, and other correspondence concerning the boat donation/resale program;
  • The Technician will maintain accurate records of property donated and sold particularly when the Technician is working alone;
  • The Technician will be responsible to learn and understand institutional purchasing policies and procedures and preparing requisitions for supplies, services, and equipment in accordance with institutional and state guidelines

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalency diploma, and valid NC Driver’s License. The applicant must have knowledge of boat and motor operations, handling, maintenance, loading and unloading of boats and trailers, and safety, and have the ability to identify boat motors.
Knowledge and Skills: The applicant must be able to provide evidence of a safe driving record, and have the ability to back-up boat trailers. This position requires reliability, maturity, professionalism, the ability to work as a team member, accuracy in work, strict attention to detail, and ability to work by priority of tasks.
Physical Demands: The Technician must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds and to climb ladders. The Technician must have the ability to safely operate a forklift, truck, and golf cart.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, some post-secondary level education, boat sales experience, and word processing/computer experience is preferred

 

Supplemental Information

Donations to the Carteret Community College Foundation often require discretion and privacy. The Technician will discuss donations to the foundation and other foundation matters only with appropriate personnel who have a need to know the information concerning the donations. The identity of any donor will be kept strictly confidential and will not be disclosed outside of those in the Foundation office who need to know the information.
