Position Summary & Essential Duties
Position Summary:
Under general supervision from the departmental chair, the incumbent teaches courses as scheduled, cultivates a healthy teacher-student relationship, and engages the students in active learning. The incumbent will make recommendations regarding curriculum changes, text selection, and content revision. The instructor will perform administrative aspects of instruction in a timely manner.
Essential Duties:
The incumbent will:
1. Cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships.
2. Engage students in active learning.
3. Develop clear and innovative syllabi and course material.
4. Utilize advancements in technology to improve instructional methodology.
5. Incorporates best practices.
6. Maintain accessibility to students for advisement and consultation.
7. Seek feedback to improve quality of teaching.
8. Attend conferences, workshops, or programs to enhance professional growth.
9. Participate in academic/professional organizations.
10. Develop and implement innovative course content based on current pedagogy.
11. Evidence a willingness to incorporate new concepts and theories to enhance professional growth.
12. Integrate a diverse set of perspectives and ideas into course curriculum.
13. Demonstrate innovative thinking to problem solve within the classroom, the department, and the institution.
14. Demonstrate respect and professionalism with supervisors, colleagues, and students.
15. Fosters collegiality within the department/division.
16. Evidence timely completion of administrative aspects of instructional responsibilities.
17. Participate in evaluation, recommendation, development, and/or revision of department instruction/curriculum.
18. Contribute to growth of the college by active involvement on task forces or committees.
19. Demonstrate participation in activities that contribute to the growth of the community.
20. Perform job-related duties as assigned.Qualifications (Required and Preferred)
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in the teaching discipline or Master's Degree with a concentration of 18 semester graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Music. Two (2) years directly related work experience and the ability to teach orchestra, applied lessons, music history, American music, orchestral literature, and string methods. Provide evidence of success in recruiting students. Provide evidence of excellence in performance and teaching.Job Duties and Responsibilites

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
The incumbent must possess the ability to engage students in the learning process. The incumbent must possess knowledge of:• principles and methods for curriculum and training design
• teaching and instruction for individuals and groups
• the assessment of student learning outcomes
• appropriate subject matter and the application of the subject matter for the discipline being taught
• relevant equipment, policies procedure, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operation for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
• effective communication strategies, verbal and written in dealing with students and other involved parties
• working with a diverse population
Physical Demands:Primarily light physical activity is required with occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 25 pounds but may require intermittent lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
