Seasonal Open Gym Facility Leader

Responsible for opening the facility, inspecting and securing the facility, light cleaning duties, supervising employees and patrons, enforcing rules, and providing a safe and comfortable recreational environment.

• Supervises participants and ensures that safety is maintained. General supervision of gym area.
• Organizes teams.
• Keeps attendance.
• Opens and secures facility daily. Maintains City equipment and property.
• Enforces rules and safety procedures. Adheres to bloodborne pathogens procedures when administering First Aid and wears the proper personal protective equipment. Documents and reports all incidents in accordance with City and/or department procedures.
• Maintains a clean gym area including picking up and properly disposing of trash and debris.
• Cooperates with school staff and custodians. Notifies custodian upon leaving facility.
• Ensures that equipment is in safe working condition. Checks equipment out, including keys and first aid kit.
• Follows all policies, procedures, and the philosophy that is set forth by the City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Supervisory and/or leadership experience desirable.
• Experience working with the public desirable.
• A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.

• Working knowledge of recreation programs and games. Knowledge and skill in proper customer service techniques.
• Skill and ability in effective supervisory practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to read and perform basic calculations. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to maintain a positive public image and positive attitude. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
  
• Physical Requirements:
  Ability to perform the following activities:
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, squatting, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Occasional sitting, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
