Description of Work

**THIS IS A CONTINUOUS POSTING-APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR SIX MONTHS (180 DAYS). THIS POSTING IS FOR THE EASTERN REGION WHICH INCLUDES THE COUNTIES OF BEAUFORT, DARE, EDGECOMBE, HERTFORD, MARTIN, PASQUOTANK, PITT, WASHINGTON, CARTERET, CRAVEN, JOHNSTON, LENOIR, WAYNE, WILSON, BRUNSWICK, DUPLIN, NEW HANOVER, ONSLOW, SAMPSON, DURHAM, FRANKLIN, GRANVILLE, HALIFAX, NASH, VANCE, BLADEN, COLUMBUS, CUMBERLAND AND ROBESON**
***SALARY FOR NEW HIRES WILL BE $32,001-**Determine Eligibility, test, and evaluate persons applying for classified Driver License, Commercial Driver License, Learners permits and ID cards. Confirm applicants knowledge of NC Motor
Vehicle laws, identification of road signs, checking vision and observe/evaluate driving skills by riding with customer in their personal vehicle on a road test in all types of weather. ID any possible health concerns, advise customer of adjunct service programs, enter applicant data and court ordered info into a mainframe database, collect balance and report fees collected daily. Wear agency issued uniform and shoes. Work in confined areas and handle stress dealing with customers. Travel during the day and overnight on short notice to provide relief for other offices**DMV does not accept faxed applications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Management prefers experience explaining policy, procedure and laws to a diverse clientele. Must have proficiency in micro soft applications or mainframe databases. Ability to examine and evaluate information or documents and make a determination bases on analysis. Management prefers experience with collection and disbursement of cash and completion of financial statements/reports. Be able to lift/carry equipment/supplies, stoop, bend, look under, climb in/out or onto all types of motor vehicles. Must meet all federal medical requirements and qualify/retain a Commercial Driver License. Must attend and complete/pass 7 weeks of certification training requiring overnight stay Monday-Friday. No more than 5 active points and no suspensions/revocations within last 10yrs on driver license. Bilingual abilities beneficial. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from high school and the demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills, and abilities gained through at least four years of clerical, administrative, or paraprofessional experience involving the resolution of varied public contact situations which include interviewing and/or explaining information of considerable detail; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Necessary Special Qualification Possession of a valid driver license. Possession of a N.C. Commercial Driver s License or the ability to obtain N.C. Commercial Driver s License during probationary period.
