General Responsibilities

Assist Payroll staff with daily procedures such as data entry, alphabetizing, filing and document verification, and performs other duties as assigned, maintaining confidentiality in regard to payroll information at all times.

Description of All Duties

   
a.       Responsible for coding payroll data and assists in data entry of payroll information as directed by Payroll staff.
b.       Sorts payroll input documents and submits them to outside agencies (i.e. TSA payments, ADP) each payday.
c.        Performs typing, filing and shredding as necessary.
d.       Responsible for recording incoming action notices/student contracts for the purpose of timesheet coding and Payroll processing.
e.        Responsible for monthly distribution of timesheets and memos as necessary to other College offices and employees.
f.        Serves as backup to the Payroll Specialist as necessary.
g.        Assists in maintenance of direct deposit databases.
h.       Sorts and distributes Payroll checks on a semi-monthly basis.
i.         Responsible for accurate responses to employees with payroll questions. May be required to handle the entire office for periods of time.
j.         Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Payroll staff and the Payroll Supervisor.
 
     

Education & Experience

a.       Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework in accounting or other business-related areas required; Associate’s degree preferred.
b.       Basic knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software required; Microsoft Access knowledge preferred.
c.        A minimum of one year of payroll experience required, preferably in a non-profit institution.
d.       Basic knowledge of such office machines and 10-key calculator.
e.        Good math skills necessary.
f.        Ability to work well with others required.
g.        ADP experience preferred.
h.       Good customer service skills.
i.         Ability to maintain confidentiality required.
