Essential Job Duties

  1. Demonstrate leadership competencies by exhibiting appropriate role modeling, and setting proper examples.
  2. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
  3. Perform supervisory responsibilities which may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws.
  4. Create property and or easement descriptions.
  5. Coordinate with engineer planners, land agents, drafter, trail coordinator and other departments for construction staking and property boundary needs.
  6. Supervise and assign surveyor assistant tasks to include; research, field research, maintenance, etc. and analyze data produced.
  7. Provide topographical surveys to locate in 3-D coordinates existing conditions for future improvements.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Duties

  1. Produce signed/sealed survey plats and file with the appropriate authorities.
  2. Oversee the drafting of necessary plats, exhibits and/or instruments prepared for recording.
  3. Review outside surveyor’s work for document accuracy.
  4. Report a cumulative of fifteen professional development hours per year with the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
  5. Perform secondary duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience and/or training and a minimum of two (2) years management experience. Two years experience as a Professional Land Surveyor preferred.
  2. Valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
  3. State of Arkansas Registered Land Surveyor.
  4. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to apply mathematical operations for survey related calculations and to interpret computer generated calculations.
  6. Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and other related software programs. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
  7. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  8. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.

Full Time, 38 or more hours per week, non uniformed employee.  Eligible for all City benefits offered to full time non uniformed employees and all full time City accruals.  Also eligible for all City employee perks and discounts.
