 TYPE OF SUPERVISION GIVEN TO OTHERS
 
 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of Facilities Superintendent, performs the duties normally required in, the trade of electrician, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work. To include: repairing, installing, replacing, and testing electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using necessary hand tools and testing instruments.
 

Description of All Duties

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
a.       Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits and equipment.
b.       Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment, using suitable testing instruments.
c.        Examines and tests elements of electrical systems to locate obvious faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motor brushes.
d.       Replaces faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures, and appliances.
e.        Renews circuits whether by isolating and cutting out defective wiring and replacing it with new wiring, or by splicing ends of broken wires.
f.        Replaces defective equipment parts such as gears, bushings and bearings, and other related electrical parts.
g.        As required, estimate materials needed and record time and materials expended on each work order.
h.       Acts as Lead person for electrical projects and responsible for overseeing and assigning work to maintenance helper.
i.         Reports all electrical safety hazards and code violations to Superintendent. Corrects whatever deficiency, which can be performed in-house. Reports and coordinates proper outside electrical contractor with HVAC Lead and Superintendent.
j.         Follows generally accepted electrical safety procedures and lock-out.
k.       Works from intricate wiring diagrams, prints and schematic drawings involving the use of standard electrical symbols for power, control, and measurement.
l.         Locates and corrects electrical trouble of any nature including work on high voltage circuits which may require the use of rigging, ladders, and building structure.
m.     Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

a.       Works directly with maintenance Lead and Facilities Superintendent to ensure total job responsibilities are met.
b.       Works cooperatively with other Facilities Leads, staff, faculty and outside vendors to ensure assignment coordination.
