Essential Job Duties

  1. All City of Fayetteville positions require the employee to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.  
  2. Process mail.
  3. Receive deposits.
  4. Answer customer questions in person or over the phone.
  5. Take impact fees.
  6. Set up new service, transfer service to new address or disconnect service.
  7. Research bad debt accounts.
  8. Set sewer averages.
  9. Receive in monies from various sources, balance cash drawer.
  10. Effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and the general public.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Duties

  1. Perform filing function in an accurate manner.
  2. Answer phone and forward to appropriate department.
  3. Secondary duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma or GED with two (2) years of related customer service and/or cashier experience.
  2. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  3. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
  4. Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and other related software programs such as a basic knowledge of word processing applications (Microsoft Word or WordPerfect), spreadsheet applications (i.e. Excel).  Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment. 
  5. Must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  6. Must be willing to forgo vacation time off during May and August of each year due to volume of student migrations. 
  7. Must have the ability to learn to navigate in the City of Fayetteville’s utility billing software programs running in an AS400 environment. 
  8. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the office area, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must have specific vision abilities to accomplish computer and office work.
  9. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is exposed to a louder than usual office environment. Individuals must be able to work in an environment that has regular interruptions, numerous visitors and telephone calls from business patrons, contractors, and building professionals. Working in this environment is required and must not have a negative impact on work productivity.   

Full Time, 38 or more hours per week, non uniformed employee.  Eligible for all City benefits offered to full time non uniformed employees and all full time City accruals.  Also eligible for all City employee perks and discounts.
