Essential Job Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Note: All City of Fayetteville positions require the employee to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. Other essential duties of this position include the following:
 
  1. Issue parking citations using electronic handheld devices and printers.
  2. Collect money in meters and pay-machines.
  3. Collect parking citations from courtesy boxes.
  4. Perform maintenance on meters, parking gates and pay-machines.
  5. Change out meters and domes as needed.
  6. Monitor downtown, Dickson Street, and other assigned parking areas.
  7. Download citation information from handheld to personal computer and maintain citation database.
  8. Assist with annual special events.
  9. Resolve complaints regarding citations with general public/downtown employees.
  10. Explain parking policies, answer questions, and help direct traffic as needed.
  11. Tag abandoned and or stored vehicles with required notice; notify supervisor if towing is necessary.
  12. Assist with vehicle towing and impoundment.
  13. Perform calibration on parking meters.
  14. Oversee and assist in snow removal on parking lots.
  15. Report lots needing asphalt cracks repairs, overlays, pole paint, sealant, striping, and bumper blocks; make repairs and replacements as needed.
  16. Change and maintain light bulbs in assigned parking decks, parking lots or other facilities.
  17. Perform weed maintenance around city parking lots in assigned areas.
  18. Perform snow removal in city parking lots, parking decks, and other assigned areas.
  19. Report traffic accidents, unlicensed vehicles, and hazardous conditions in assigned areas.
  20. Program electric parking card readers.
  21. Inventory/audit parking spaces, meter, signs and poles.
  22. Survey parking lots for over-and-under utilization as well as hazards.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Duties

  1. Assist with clean up in parking lots, downtown, and other areas as assigned.
  2. Perform secondary duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Twelve (12) months of related experience and/or training preferred.
  3. Valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
  4. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general procedures, city codes and ordinances. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and the general public.
  6. Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and other related software programs and be familiar with use of ATV, and hand tools. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
  7. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; frequently stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  8. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.

Full Time, 38 or more hours per week, non uniformed employee.  Eligible for all City benefits offered to full time non uniformed employees and all full time City accruals.  Also eligible for all City employee perks and discounts.
