GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Director of Student Involvement and Orientation is an integral member of the Office of Student Life. This full-time, live-in, professional is responsible for assisting in the development, coordination, and direction of operations for student life at Westminster College. Specifically this position will coordinate all Orientation programming, commencement and convocation planning, co-curricular assessment and serve on-duty and as a judicial hearing officer. As a true generalist position, the AD will also have opportunities to work in various areas of student life and the college. This position reports to the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership.

Flexibility is necessary to offer services when needed. This a live-in position where a meal plan and housing are provided as a staff apartment. The AD also works closely with others on the Student Life team in creating and maintaining a healthy and cooperative living and learning environment within the residence halls, as they will serve on duty for approximately 1/6 the year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1)Plan, coordinate, implement and assess all aspects of Westminster First Year Student and Commuter Orientation for incoming students in both Fall (650 students), Spring (100 students), and Summer (100 students) semesters. Assist with International Orientation. (50%)
a.Responsible for recruiting, hiring and training one or two student team leaders and minimum of 35 student ambassadors (orientation leaders).
b.Oversee Family Orientation coordination for 2100 participants.
c.Create and develop orientation marketing, publications and website, as well as managing publication production and delivery.
d.Direct program logistics and manage orientation scheduling online.
2)Plan, coordinate and oversee implementation of Westminster’s commencement (May) and convocation (August) ceremonies. (25%)
3)Coordinate and develop the co-curricular assessment program for the Office of Student Life. (15%)
4)Serve on duty for the Westminster residential community and as a judicial hearing officer. (10%)

Minimum Qualifications:  1)Master’s Degree in a Higher Education Administration/College Student Personnel program or related field with 1-3 years of graduate or professional experience.
2)A graduate assistantship in Orientation, Student Activities/Involvement, Residence Life, or another applicable Student Affairs position.
