Office Assistant (Formerly Intermediate Clerk)

General clerical work. Examples include: answering phones, use of various computer applications, data entry, filing, record keeping, etc.

Records Clerk

Create and maintain records and provide information to requesting agencies. This position is generally found in the Probation department and deals with confidential information.

Assessment Clerk

Process official documents or claims related to real property appraisals and tax assessments.

Administrative Secretary I

Takes and prepares minutes; types correspondence, reports, orders, and statistical data such as charts and graphs; provides general information to callers and/or refers them to the appropriate party.

Administrative Secretary II

Provide personal secretarial services to County executives or managers. Examples include: taking minutes, typing reports, and scheduling appointments.

Office Assistant (Formerly Intermediate Clerk)

1 year fulltime clerical experience.

OR

A certificate showing recent completion of a clerical/secretarial program from a recognized community or business college.

Records Clerk

1 year fulltime clerical experience.

OR

A certificate showing recent completion of a clerical/secretarial program from a recognized community or business college.

Assessment Clerk

2 years of clerical experience. Experience must have included processing payments and checking legal documents for completeness.

Administrative Secretary I

Ability to type 50 wpm (typing certificate required).

AND

1 year of fulltime experience performing secretarial work.

OR

A certificate showing recent completion of a secretarial program from a recognized community or business college.

Administrative Secretary II

Ability to type 50 wpm (typing certificate required).

AND

1 year of fulltime experience at the level of Admin Sec I.

OR

2 years of fulltime experience performing secretarial work.

OR

A certificate showing recent completion of a secretarial program from a recognized community or business college, and 1 year of required experience.

All qualified applicants for clerical support positions must take the General Clerical Test Battery (GCTB) and will be notified by e-mail/mail of the test date, time, and location.

The GCTB is used to test applicants applying for:

Administrative Secretarry II (002757)

The GCTB is a multiple-choice test which assesses the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: customer service, checking and comparing, filing, basic computer knowledge, judgement and reasoning, general office procedures, basic math, ability to follow written instructions, reading comprehension, and basic English usage. Passing test scores may vary depending on the classifications for which candidates apply.

Applications submitted for Administrative Secretary I and II positions require the submission of a 50 net word per minute typing certificate. The ORIGINAL typing/keyboarding certificate issued within the past two years must be presented following your successful completion of the GCTB examination.

The names of qualified applicants who pass the GCTB will be placed on a six-month employment list for those classifications for which they applied and were qualified.
