INSURANCE PLANS: Choice of five medical plans, two HMO’s and three PPO’s. Court pays entire premium for employee and subsidizes premium for dependents. Vision plan, life insurance, short-term disability (STD) plan, and choice of indemnity or pre-paid dental plans administered by the Orange County Employees Association. STD pays 60% of salary up to a maximum of $900/month with 30 day waiting period.

RETIREMENT: Defined contribution, fully-qualified plan based on the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 (Government Code Section 31450 et. al.). Employee and Court contributions are based on several variables including age, hire date, and salary. The plan is administered by an independent agency, Orange County Employees Retirement System, and has reciprocity with PERS. Retirement benefit amount: 1/60th of average monthly compensation times years of service credit times factor based on age.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Optional deferred compensation 457 plan.

VACATION ACCRUAL: 0-3 years, 80 hours per year; 4-9 years, 120 hours per year; 10 or more years, 160 hours per year. Maximum accrual of hours: 0-9 years, 240 hours; 10 or more years, 320 hours.

HOLIDAYS: 12 paid holidays per year.

SICK LEAVE: 0-3 years, 72 hours per year; >3 years, 96 hours per year. Unlimited accrual.

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: 3 days paid leave per qualifying instance.

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE: Court pays into county administered insurance fund.

MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT: Court reimburses $0.325/mile for under 250 miles per month and $0.390/mile for 250 or more miles per month.

OVERTIME: Court pays overtime (time and a half) for all hours over 40 hours per week, even for exempt employees with the exception of Court Technology employees where overtime is paid in excess of 80 hours per pay period.

WORKER’S COMPENSATION: Court pays into county administered insurance fund.

EDUCATION REIMBURSEMENT: Court reimburses up to $1,500 per year of tuition for approved, necessary courses, subject to availability of funds.

BILINGUAL PAY: Available at additional $0.40/hour for selected classes in selected positions.

EXCEPTIONAL BILINGUAL PAY: Available for specific classes at a rate of $1.15/hour in selected positions.
