Job Responsibilities

Helps skilled trades workers perform maintenance and repair tasks in such areas as carpentry, masonry, electricity, heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing and boiler operation. Operates specialized vehicles in maintaining highways, placing driveway pipes, mowing medians and shoulders, grading outfall ditches and compacting roadway surfaces. Cleans and repairs buildings and grounds at rest areas, welcome centers and other locations. Cleans and maintains tools and equipment. Inspects assigned areas to ensure cleanliness and sanitation. Loads and unloads equipment and supplies. Disposes of waste and trash. Cleans and lubricates cars, trucks and other vehicles; replaces belts and changes oil, filters or tires; replaces mechanical parts as directed. Functions as a lead worker for a small group of laborers.
