SUPERIOR COURT OF CALIFORNIA, COUNTY OF ORANGE

PRO TEM COURT REPORTERS.


Are you a new Court Reporter looking to gain experience working with the Courts?

Are you looking for the opportunity to sit as a Pro Tem reporter?


Pro tem court reporters are scheduled based upon the daily needs of the Court, notification of availability to work, and indicated location preferences on application.


PER DIEM RATES

Full Day: $334.50

Half Day: $167.25


WHAT YOU NEED

POSSESS: A current and valid Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) certification issued by the Court Reporter’s Board California.

ABILITY TO: Simultaneously listen to and make verbatim, accurate reports of court proceedings, prepare computer aided transcription, and meet deadlines as required by the Superior Court and Court of Appeals. RealTime capability may be required for some assignments.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Thorough knowledge of the techniques and procedures of court reporting and use of related materials and equipment. Knowledge of legal terminology, legal practices, courtroom procedures and protocol.

SKILL IN: Reporting court proceedings at a rate of ???words per minute. RealTime capability may be required for some assignments.


THE PROCESS

INTERVIEW: An in person or telephone interview may be administered.

REAL TIME: Before placement, CRIS management reserves the right to administer a RealTime exercise to determine the skill level.

BACKGROUND: Before placement, all applicants will have to pass a background check.
