Job Responsibilities

UNDER LIMITED SUPERVISION, PLANS, ORGANIZES AND DIRECTS THE OPERATION OF A COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES. RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF

ALL SOCIAL SERVICES PROGRAMS AT THE COUNTY LEVEL, WHICH INCLUDES PUBLIC RELATIONS, PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION, FISCAL OPERATIONS AND HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATION AND FACILITY MANAGEMENT. WORKS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE

DEPUTY STATE DIRECTOR, POLICY AND OPERATIONS.

*THIS POSITION SERVES AT THE WILL AND PLEASURE OF THE STATE DIRECTOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FAMILY INDEPENDENCE ACT LEGISLATION AND, THEREFORE, IS

EXEMPT FROM THE EMPLOYEE GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES, THE SUBSTANDARD PERFORMANCE PROCESS, PROBATIONARY STATUS/APPOINTMENTS AND TRIAL PERIODS.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

(NOTE: ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS MAY BE APPLICABLE FOR INDIVIDUAL POSITIONS IN THE EMPLOYING AGENCY.)

A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

Additional Requirements:

A. A MASTER'S DEGREE AND THREE (3) YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN SOCIALSERVICES PROGRAMS, CORRECTIONAL, EDUCATION, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT, OR RELEVANT PROGRAM EXPERIENCE. A BACHELOR'S DEGREE AND EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF RELATED EXPERIENCE.

B. MINIMUM PLUS ONE (1) YEAR EXPERIENCE.

C. MINIMUM PLUS TWO (2) YEARS EXPERIENCE.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

MANAGERIAL AND SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE IN A HUMAN SERVICES OR RELATED POSITION,

WITH AT LEAST FOUR (4) YEARS SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE IS DESIRABLE.
