Job Description

Under supervision, to receive, store, and issue a variety of supplies, tools, and equipment; to maintain records of items received and issued; to load and unload freight, supplies and equipment from trucks; and to do other work as required. Stock Clerk positions are assigned to supply units of County departments, responsible for the receipt, storage, and routing of supplies, materials, and equipment delivered to their departments. Responsibilities often include related duties such as maintaining department inventory records; preparing requisitions and inventory cards; sorting and distributing incoming department mail; packaging items scheduled for distribution to branch offices, etc.

Examples of Essential Duties

* Receives, loads and unloads supplies, materials and equipment from vendor trucks; operates forklift to move pallets; inspects for damage and quantity received against requisitions, invoices, or freight bills. * Stores stock in accordance with established storing system; keeps storeroom in orderly and clean condition; packages items to be shipped; fills requisitions and assembles for delivery; notes and reports to supervisors items that are low in stock. * May prepare work orders or items to be sent for repairs; may maintain routine records of items received and issued, including posting to perpetual inventory cards; assists in taking periodic physical inventory; types requisitions and inventory cards. * May duplicate forms and other printed matter; may maintain records of petty cash funds.

Qualifications

Knowledge of: Basic techniques of receiving, storing, and issuing supplies and materials; basic techniques involved in inventory control. Ability to: Read sufficiently well to accurately fill requests from written purchase orders; keep records of receipt and delivery of supplies and materials; make basic arithmetical computations; learn the terminology of parts and supplies associated with the storeroom or warehouse assigned.

Medical/Dental Insurance: A flex benefit amount of $395.40 monthly. Voluntary vision plan available.

PEHMCA Amount: County contribution to Public Employees Medical and Hospital Care program (PEHMCA) in the amount of $25/month is available for retirees' health insurance through the County.

Retirement: Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS) equal to 8% of salary. Retirement formula is 3% @ 60. Retirement amount: The highest 12 month period earning level is used to determine the retirement benefit amount. All new employees pay retirement contributions for the first five years of continuous service.

Deferred Compensation: Two voluntary deferred compensation 457 plans available.

Vacation Accrual: 0-3 years, 80 hours; 4-9 years, 120 hours; 10 or more years, 160 hours.

Accrual limited to 3 times current rate.

Holidays: Normally 12 paid holidays per year, (any employee scheduled to work on a paid holiday will be paid his regular rate for time worked and is entitled to 8 hours of holiday pay or compensatory time off).

Sick Leave: 4 hours sick leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual. Upon retirement or death, unused sick leave is paid for at a rate of 50% the current salary value after 5 years (not to exceed 960 hours).

Bereavement Leave: 5 days (3 paid, 2 from leave balances).

Disability: STD County paid short-term disability (STD) of .9% of employee salary up to a maximum of $285.90 per year. Maximum amount received by employee on STD is 55% of hourly wage (7 day waiting period) with a maximum of $249.70 per week.

Unemployment: County paid unemployment insurance of .3% of base salary.

Mileage: mileage reimbursement of $0.36 per mile.

Callback: Minimum 1 hour callback (Does not apply to all classifications).

Shift Differential: 3:00 p.m.-11:00/11:30 p.m. @ $.60/hr, 11:00 p.m.-7:00/7:30 a.m. @ $1.20/hr. Selected classifications are 3:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. @ $.75/hr.; 11:00 p.m.-7:00a.m. @$1.30 /hr.

Standby Pay: 1 hour for every 8 hours on standby; selected classifications: $1.20/hr. (Does not apply to all classifications.)

Bilingual: Bilingual pay is available @ $.25/hour (at least 10% of time) or $.50/hour (50% of time or must translate before an officially convened court, appeals board, commission or hearing body.

Education Reimbursement: May be reimbursed for actual costs, subject to availability of funds.

Other: Double time pay for selected classifications for non-scheduled weekends.

Tools Reimbursement up to $2,500 for tools stolen from locked storage areas. Inconvenience Differential - $12/pay period for traveling crew in T.C. & L. Uniforms provided for selected classes. Public Safety Communications Officer II - $.50/hr. when assigned as a trainer/preceptor. Female prisoner search & meal assignments - $.25/hr.
