Description

The purpose of this classification is to provide technical and administrative support to the County's employment operations; to provide general clerical assistance to the department; and to provide customer service to applicants, County managers, employees and the general public.

Essential Duties

Provides technical support to the County's employment operations, which includes processing applications for County job openings, and the processing of Job Bank and/or temporary agency staffing requests. Receives, reviews and processes employment documents, job bank requests, temporary staffing requests, etc. Schedules and coordinates interviews, physicals, and/or drug screenings; conducts driver license and background checks; processes applications and employment documents; notifies departments, job bank employees, managers and temporary agencies of employment decisions, related actions and processes, and/or status of requests. Prepares packets to be distributed to new hires; establishes files on new employees; maintains automated and manual files and records. Assists with the processing of job applications and the selection of new hires. Mails/distributes applications to internal and external parties upon request; receives, dates and scans job applications; establishes applicant files and maintains applicant tracking system; e-mails applications to hiring departments; and prepares and mails letters informing applicants of selection decisions. Provides customer service to employees, managers, applicants and the general public. Answers telephone lines and greets visitors; provides assistance and information; responds to inquiries; explains policies and procedures; and/or directs inquiries to other departments or staff members as appropriate. Distributes applications, benefit documents, business cards and other materials; maintains front office area to include bulletin boards and employment posting books. Performs general clerical work in support of daily office operations; receives, dates and distributes incoming mail; prepares outgoing mail; establishes and maintains department files and records; Operates a personal computer, telephones, copiers and other general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software. Performs other related duties as required. In the event of a declared state of emergency, employees in this classification may be called to work during days or hours other than those for which they are regularly scheduled.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent; supplemented by one year of clerical experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
