General Description

Responsible for set up (including getting live animal if needed), implementation, and cleanup of scheduled birthday parties at the Wildlife Sanctuary.

Examples of Duties

  • Sets up birthday party room (decorations, plates, games, etc.).
  • Facilitates party participants with games, food, and live animal visit as needed.
  • Records party attendance.
  • Communicates with participants,  and maintains a positive public image, and fosters a positive attitude through participation. Responsible for safety and supervision of participants.
  • Coordinates with the Chief Naturalist regarding class needs (i.e. Animal animal training, ordering of supplies, etc.)
  • Responds quickly, efficiently, and professionally to any emergency situation; completes necessary paperwork and notifies the administrative staff on duty and Chief Naturalist.
  • Organizes, secures, and maintains supplies.
  • Assists in planning for future program expenditures by recommending supplies and other program changes.
  • Performs room cleanup and storage of supplies and other program changes.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, and the philosophy that is set forth by the City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Experience working with children and experience with animal handling preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred.
  • A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Some knowledge of principles and practices of animal husbandry and skill in handling animals.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and maintain control of activities and children. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective relationships with staff, volunteers, and general public. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
