Description

South Puget Sound Community College seeks to establish a pool of self-motivated, organized and enthusiastic individuals to serve as an Events Coordinator 1. This recruitment is open to all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications stated below.  Applications received for this position will be used to create an applicant pool that will be used to fill any two vacancies which may occur at the college over the next six months.

 
The Events Coordinator 1 reports to the Events Manager and is responsible for event setups.
  • Utilize event plans and diagrams to set up tables, chairs and other event equipment
  • Troubleshoot Audio Visual equipment as necessary
  • Ensure customer satisfaction during events
  • Perform other duties as required

Key Responsiblities


  • Reviews and prioritizes facilities use requests to assure optimum use of space; assigns space and monitors facility use to assure conformity with policies;  
  • Coordinates events and services such as furniture, equipment, food orders, and custodial services for meetings, conferences, workshops, social functions, and other events involving the use of on-site facilities and equipment;  
  • Maintains liaison and coordinates with building users related to facility use; issues keys; assigns storage space; monitors use and condition of facilities;  
  • Receives and deposits funds received in payment for services provided; 
  • Performs other work as required.
  • Positions at this level work under general supervision and independently coordinate day-to-day scheduling and use of on-site buildings, rooms, and facilities. Incumbents have extensive contacts with customers to ensure that logistics of events are made and completed on time.
     

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of work experience involving public contact, catering, event support, promotion, set-up, public information or in the hospitality industry or equivalent education/experience.
  • Ability to communicate well and present oneself in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work well with others and function as a team member.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, administrators and support staff in accomplishing tasks.
